South Omaha Terminal Railway (SOTR) An HO Scale Railroad by Adam Dagendesh
In 1955, the Omaha Union Stockyards overtook Chicago as the largest national meat and livestock market. A subsidiary of the Omaha Union Stockyards, the South Omaha Terminal Railway(SOTR) handles the stock and meat-based traffic from regional class 1 railroads. This fast-paced switching layout reenacts the granger railroads interchanging with the SOTR and the Union Pacific for points west. The modeled area is the Union Pacific mainline from Council Bluffs, IA to south central Omaha, NE. Due to space constraints, Omaha Union Station and passenger traffic are not modeled at this time.
